The Company was founded in February 1996. Since its establishment, Internet Egypt has pursued an aggressive growth and expansion policy, building up a powerful base in terms of infrastructure, assets, expertise and manpower.
Since 2000 Internet Egypt has consolidated with a major network infrastructure company, Egyptian Company for Networks (EgyNet). EgyNet has constructed one of the most powerful infrastructures for providing networking services in the country, with a presence in all governorates in Egypt.
Etisalat Misr has acquired 100% of EgyNet in October 2008.This acquisition is part of Etisalat’s aim of strengthening its presence in the internet sector after obtaining a license for providing 3G services. This is a part of an aggressive strategy that Etisalat adopts to combine horizontal expansion with vertical expansion. Etisalat policy is to address new markets by acquiring new companies/new licenses, with its combine existing 3G mobile voice services, Mobile TV, 3.5G and 3.75G Broadband with a new set of services that are made possible through acquisitions of EgyNet and NOL.
Internet Egypt is now a part of and backed by the strong Etisalat group which operates in 17 countries across Asia, the Middle East and Africa, servicing over 74m.
